May & June Shop Window Displays August 16 2017
In the Netherlands there is a little rhyme about the different months and it says that May is the month when all the birds lay their eggs. So for my May window display I made a big birds nest out of pencils and used it as the center of my display. It also included tea pot bird feeders, and my bicycle wheel that I spray painted yellow and that makes a great little card rack. I filled it with a lovely selection of bird cards from the brilliant Ella Shepherd....
For my June window I picked a beach theme, being a seaside town and hoping for better weather. I made two little beach huts out of old pallets (that I now use as jewellery stands) and asked the amazing Lisa from Lubilou Ceramics to make one of her beautiful 3D sculptures to go in the central window. She came into the shop with Eric the sailor who was balancing a fish on his head and he really was a showstopper. (He has since found a forever home and he is still missed...). I finished the display with some good old fashioned blow up beach balls and it all worked brilliantly together.
